Katherine V. Yung is an award-winning journalist and author. She has worked as a business reporter for the Detroit Free Press, the Dallas Morning News and the Detroit News. Katherine developed a passion for business news while majoring in business economics and public policy at Brown University. After Brown, Katherine earned a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism.
Katherine has received several awards and other honors for her journalism, including the 2011 Society of American Business Editors and Writers Best in Business award in the feature category for her series on long-term unemployment.
Katherine is the lead author of Coney Detroit, the first book to explore the history and the people behind the coney dog, Michigan’s signature food. Coney Detroit, which was published in 2012 by Wayne State University Press, has been honored by the Foreword Book of the Year Awards and has sold nearly 6,000 copies.
